Colombian band Bomba Estéreo is currently on the biggest U.S. headline tour of their career. They recently hit the road with sold-out shows in numerous cities, and their recent stint in Los Angeles at The Novo was no exception. On board, opening for the band was the new act Reyna Tropical making it a perfect match, beginning til end.

Earlier this year, Bomba Estéreo released the video for their single “Amar Asi  celebrating the love among Colombian soldiers stationed on a remote Caribbean island. Their tour’s live show speaks to love and also good times through music. It started with screens bringing consciousness to the plastic production crisis affecting the planet and an invitation for reflection. They charmed the audience with new and already loved songs like “Soy Yo” used in multiple social initiatives. Obviously, Bomba is committed to higher levels of human sensitivity with their messages. Bomba’s tour goes by the name of “Jungla.” Once you experience it live, you will understand why. The setup and vibe of the show felt almost like a warm tropical beach filled with electronic cumbia beats and party vibes with everyone exploding together. This is the best show that I have experienced with Bomba Estéreo. It was flawless, vibrant and full of infectious energy. Bomba just keeps getting better and better.

Opening act, Reyna Tropical was astounding on their own. The freshly formed Mexican duo who now reside in Los Angeles and Portland are made up of Fabi Reyna and Sumohair. They met for the first time in Nashville, Tennessee on behalf of Red Bull Music Academy’s Bass Camp at Bonnaroo. Vocals, strings and live beats bring a juxtaposition of elements that sounded like all of us: like the roots of the multicultural people of Los Angeles mixed with the future. This show was one for the books. Keep an eye out for Reyna Tropical.
