Fierceness takes over the Moroccan Lounge with performances by Le Butcherettes, Stars at Night and The Tissues

This past Tuesday night, the Moroccan Lounge was packed with fans who had shown up early to get a good spot to see the splendor and carnal energy of Le Butcherettes. Teri Gender Bender the founding member and heart and soul of the band is known for her wild stage antics and although their new album bi/MENTAL is a bit more about internal conflict, Teri would still unleash her unapologetic rage into the room.

The all-female-fronted show opened with The Tissues a local Los Angeles punk band whose high energy screamer of a front woman seemed a bit at odds with the zombie-like energy coming off the rest of the band. Following were Stars At Night who won the crowd over with great music and fun stage banter.

Le Butcherettes were what everyone was waiting for and they did not disappoint. Teri started the set wrapped in a blood-red coat and a feathered headpiece. Her eyes had red war paint across them and she appeared to be summoning some higher power through her keyboard and guitar. She changed costumes by stripping off layers all in red until she was down to a leotard and fishnets. The two male members of her band kept a low profile while Teri and her stellar drummer Alejandra Robles carried the energy of the show.

Le Butcherettes were joined in their encore by Alice Bag who contributed to their album. She and Teri acted out the complicated violent relationship with her mother that a lot of Teri’s latest album spends time exploring.

Le Butcherettes are continuing on a 20-date tour that crosses the US and Europe. Catch them in a city near you!
