This past Thursday, Los Angeles four-piece Kills Birds played the Bootleg Theater Bar stage in celebration of their newly minted debut LP. The self-titled album, which was produced by Justin Raisen (Kim Gordon, Yves Tumor, Angel Olsen), is exuberantly tight and unexpected. The set brought forth interesting time changes, emotionally compelling vocal parts, and slick guitar riffs. Joining them on Thursday were Storefront Church and Rose Cologne

Over the past year, Kills Birds (consisting of vocalist Nina Ljeti, guitarist Jacob Loeb, bassist Fielder Thomas, and drummer Bosh Rothman) have shot themselves into the L.A. music scene with an urgent live sound that ricochets from ear to ear. Throughout the show, Kills Birds created an earthquake of energy that shook the room. Never once did they let go of their tight grip on the audience.

Kills Birds brings about a perfect catharsis, both sonically and emotionally as each song builds into the perfect tension. After listening to their latest LP, you’ll find yourself singing their praise for days on end.
