Talk Time just wrapped up their month long residency at The Satellite with a final show including Opus Vitae and Georgi Kay. If you missed Talk Time, the band is quintessentially Californian with a beach-y experimental pop sound. Fronted by Edison Choi, Talk Time mixes tight harmonies with laid back guitar parts. The musical equivalent of a drawn out sunset. Talk Time has paired up with prolific producer Math Bishop after catching his attention. Bishop has worked with the likes of Silversun Pickups, The Killers and U2. 

In the middle slot was Opus Vitae, who was the most laid back rage band. Essentially a solo project for Banah Winn who clearly is fired up about big current event topics like climate change but chooses to express those overwhelming emotions in the most passive unctuous falsetto. 

Opening the night and clearly a crowd favorite was Georgi Kay. Kay is a solo performer who sings to loops made live on stage. The floor in front of the stage was full of fans who delighted in not only Georgi Kay’s brilliant songwriting but also in her dry Australian humor pausing between songs to muse about dreams of disappointing people with puppetry and volunteering to not only sign her limited edition “cheeky bit” of merch but to call your mum while she is at it. 

Kay is currently working on an EP that reimagines four fan favorites off her album “Where I Go To Disappear” the first of which comes out Friday October 4th. Next time to catch her is October 24th at The Resident.
