Friday Night, Cretin Hop put together a multi generational night of punk at House of Machines featuring The Dickies, DM Tina and the Bumps and Cheap Tissue.

Warming up the crowd was DM Tina and the Bumps, described as “drag fronted weirdo rock-n-rollers.” DM Tina is an endearing mess of perfectly timed stage banter, saggy hot pink fishnets and a less than natural makeup aesthetic. If you think L.A. audiences don’t dance you are wrong. DM Tina had the room moving and  having a great time including one Mr. Noodles who DM Tina kept a watchful VERY Smokey eye on.

Up next were fun time punks Cheap Tissue. They are a mix of rock licks, punk lyrics and a dash of “ooooh ahhh” backing vocals. Cheap Tissue keep the party going with their high energy and finished their set with a guitar toss.

Headliners, The Dickies, are o.g. L.A. punks getting their start before their opening bands were born. The Dickies plowed through a series of stage props and cover songs which they are known for including the first song of their set, a fast aggressive “Silent Night” in the spirit of the holiday season. As The bands’ collective ages increased through out the night, the angst of their different generations was on display. That being said, the sight of The Dickies blow-up doll prop seemed dated compared to DM Tina’s muscular drag. Regardless, the crowd ate it up with many clearly long time fans singing along to every lyric and reliving their punk rock youth.
