Local Natives have shared a new version of their recent single “Just Before The Morning,” peeling back the song’s lush psychedelic textures to offer up an acoustic rendition of the track. It also comes just before the band is set to play their three rescheduled nights at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever on December 5, 6, and 7. An intimate series of sold-out performances will see the Los Angeles-based band sharing everything from deep cuts, rare covers, and live experimentation.

And speaking of experimentation, the new acoustic version of “Just Before The Morning” is just that: a radiant reimagining. They might’ve stripped-down the song to just a few guitars and twinkling piano keys but the track remains somehow as melodically lavish as ever. This is probably owed to the luminous croons of both Kelcey Ayer and Taylor David Rice, their vocals overtaking much of what was removed from the original song, but creating in the process imbuing the acoustic version with such vibrancy.

The acoustic release of “Just Before The Morning” also comes with a music video, a cozily shot film that sees the band performing the new version in a space lit by the gloaming of purple and pink lights and surrounded by lamps. Shot like a home video the film conveys all the blooming intimacy (and no small part of the psychedelic warmth of the original) of their sublime acoustic rendition.
