Metz

What better way to start your Monday morning than with a proper thrashing from Metz. They’re sure to knock those Monday blues out of your system, and give a shock to your system.

The Toronto trio’s explosive new album, II is now available to stream in full via NPR. As the follow-up to their 2012 self-titled debut, the new record is set for release on May 4 via Sub Pop Records. Full of that raw and powerful punk, Metz’s II is an electrifying noise-punk opus. Picking up where the band left off three years ago, singer-guitarist Alex Edkins, bassist Chris Slorach and drummer Hayden Menzies deliver a punk-punch to the gut. With more reverb, more distortion and even bits of synth and loops, the new album explodes with intensity.

While songs like “Nervous System” will have fans fired up and ready to join the circle pit, tracks like “Wait In Line” will have everyone singing along to the catchy chorus. The band has managed to keep their sound core to the thrash punk genre, while still making their songs more approachable through the use of catchy riffs and anthemic choruses.

Metz’s new album II is a generous step above their debut. While their first record grabbed our attention, this sophomore album is proving that Metz isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The band has matured and broadened their sound, while keeping it punk as fuck.

You can grab Metz’s “Loser Edition” of their new album II via Sub Pop Records.
