We all heard the drama about a month ago when the high energy garage-punk rocker, Jay Reatard announced through his twitter of his band’s departure: “Band quit! Fuck them! They are boring rich kids who can’t play for ahit anyways … Say hello to your ugly and boring wifes opps I mean lifes guys suck it.”

Looks like Reatard moved on, found a new band and is ready to thrash out yet another tour. Reatard has drafted bassist Anders Thode and drummer Jacob Elving to fill the once-vacant spots. It will be interesting to see how the new members rock out to such crazy guitar lashings. But judging by their looks, I already like em’. 😉

This new band makes the songs in a way sound more pure by scaling back and putting more emphasis on the melody and the changes,” Reatard posted in a statement at his Web site. “It sounds exactly the way I wanted these songs to sound like live when I wrote them.”

Back on the wagon, Reatard kicked off a 17-day European tour yesterday (11/2) and will hit up the States for a Nov. 21 performance in Chicago, opening for the Pixies. From there he’ll take his crazy antics on another 17 stops, finishing up with a New Year’s Eve (12/31) concert alongside Spoon in Milwaukee. Check out the tour date here!
