Australia’s punk rock powerhouse, Royal Headache made their way to Los Angeles last Friday for a fierce sold-out performance at The Echo. The lineup consisting of local band Zig Zags and Toys That Kill, was one that served a variety of punk tones.
L.A. band, Zig Zags opened the night, thrashing through songs from their new album, Running Out Of Red. The band are currently on tour through August. If you missed them, be sure to catch their next round of mayhem on July 14 at the Echoplex for In The Red Records’ 25th Anniversary.
Following Zig Zags were Toys That Kill. The band also released a new album titled Sentimental Ward. Playing classic Southern California pop punk, the band were quite different from Zig Zags’ relentless shock of punk rock (no pop).
After a long break, Royal Headache took the stage playing heartbreaking, bittersweet-like tunes from their new album, High. The crowd ignited with excitement as soon the band started playing their music. But it wasn’t all sad tunes; the moshing and stage diving commenced, all led by the band’s leader, Shogun. From punk ballads to pure shred, Royal Headache ruled the night.
