HAIM, Charlotte Day Wilson, and Steven A. Clark deliver thrilling 30 Days in LA performances at Fonda

The Fonda was in for a hot night with L.A.’s favorite sisters HAIM in the house. The show is just one of the many fabulous 30 Days In LA shows, curated by Red Bull Sound Select. The night started with support from two up and coming exciting artists. First up was Steven A. Clark. From Miami, Florida, this musician shared his creative blend of indie-pop and R&B. I felt such an effortless and relaxed presence from him throughout his set. The crowd completely vibed with him and I personally got hints of Frank Ocean and Twin Shadow in his music.

Then we had Charlotte Day Wilson, who we just saw open for Local Natives in September. She’s super unique in her craft. First she hits you with her smooth as hell vocals; then you hear the mesmerizingly suave arrangements behind her from her band. She picked up the bass and even the saxophone here and there to add to the effect. Ending her set with an insanely high note, the crowd went wild.

The night was merely beginning, as Los Angeels’ mega babes took stage! HAIM is comprised of sisters Este on bass; Alana on guitar, keyboard and percussion; and Danielle on guitar and drums. These girls SLAY! There’s really nothing else to say. So excited to be in their hometown, they shut the Fonda down! With all our favorites from their one and only release Days Are Gone, there was full sold out audience participation. The crowd was fully enthralled; smiling and singling along while showing their endless adoration for HAIM.

Throwing in an astonishing cover of the late Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U,” these girls blew the audience away! Este in particular took the chorus with her insane sass and well-known “bass face.” The night was filled with these magical moments and some heartwarming when youngest sister, Alana shed light on the recent news in the world and addressed the crowd to inform that the night would be a no judgement, no hate, safe zone.

Anxiously awaiting new music, the crowd also got a taste of a few new tracks the girls have been in the studio with. Really exciting stuff to come for sure! The three-part vocal harmonies shared among the sisters has you in awe and pure admiration. I had dudes on my left yelling “YAS! Share your gift!” to a girl on my right throwing her bra on stage to Alana! It truly was pure blissful mayhem.
