Anyma (a.k.a. Matteo Milleri) has shared their first single to be released through a new partnership with Interscope Records, unveiling the ecstatic and aptly named new track “Welcome To The Opera” (feat. Grimes). For those that don’t know he is one part of the electronic music duo Tale Of Us, alongside MRAK (a.k.a. Carmine Conte), which founded the label Afterlife back in 2016. Their foundational devotion to cultivating new sounds and artists was one of the reasons that Interscope sought an alliance with the duo. Anyma also has plans to release his forthcoming solo debut album through the new union as well.
“Welcome To The Opera” heralds a grandiose ambition from Milleri — one that those familiar with his otherworldly live shows know he can achieve. Like the awe-inspiring visuals that manifest themselves at Anyma concerts as these colossal figures, his music reaches heights hitherto unknown and unexplored. Or at least that is the feeling they leave you with over their electronically celestial exhilaration.
In terms of his first Anyma single with Insomniac, the track crackles with this ethereal voltage that courses throughout its shuddering soundscape. One thunderously driven by its rapturous beats and the shrieks of Grimes. Over bass-heavy plateaus and sheer electronica slopes that drop from breathtaking heights “Welcome To The Opera” never loses its grip on the elusive aural grandeur it grazes.
“Welcome To The Opera” is just the latest single that Milleri has released through his Anyma project. If you enjoyed the new track you’re going to want to plug into the hypnotically euphoric worlds he creates on songs like the prodigious “Explore Your Future.” Or the similarly lavish and titanic movements that rumble and race within the volatile “Eternity.” Then there’s his debut EP which arrived back in 2021 in the form of four techno-warping tracks aboard the enigmatic Sentient — a collection that now exists as a mesmeric precursor to Anyma’s hyperactive sonic vaults toward the majestic.
