Get ready to head back to Barbie Land when Barbie The Movie: In Concert makes its return to the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, July 27th. Led by Tony Award-winning co-producer Macy Schmidt the talented musicians of the Barbie Land Sinfonietta will perform the score as you watch the film, offering you a chance to reexperience the movie in a whole new way. Best of all, the Sinfonietta is an all-women, majority women-of-color orchestra! We love that.
Tickets for the concert start at just $34, but you’ll get a chance for a free pair of seats during our upcoming giveaway. Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to hear about the ticket giveaway!

Laugh and cry to an instant classic with your family/friends
What’s better than taking your family/friends to the movies? Catching one at the Hollywood Bowl! Speaking from personal experience, there’s an undeniable charm to seeing one of your favorite movies outdoors and under the stars. Whether you, your kids and/or friends laughed and cried the hardest during the film—or if you’ve yet to see it—this is one of the premiere ways to watch a movie in Los Angeles.
Treat your kids (or yourself) to a night of enchanting music
It’s simple: this is a venue your kids won’t forget their first time visiting—I know I didn’t. This is also how you get them hooked, that way you won’t have to force them to join you at all the future Hollywood Bowl shows you’re hoping to take them to. Their interest might be initially piqued by a chance to see “Barbie” again—but it’s the performance of the Sinfonietta’s music and the heartstrings they’ll tug that will stick with them long afterward.
Even if you don’t have children but haven’t attended one of these concerts you should go! There’s no better way to renew a movie’s emotional hold on you than hearing the score played live.
An excuse to pull out all the pink items in your wardrobe
There’s no better way to get into the Barbie mindset than to use every thread of pink clothing you own. Wear matching Barbie shirts, compete to put together the whackiest all-pink outfit, or just dress up as your favorite Barbie (real or imagined). This is a concert you’ll want to get into the spirit for and doing so will make it all the more memorable for your kids!
Plan for an evening picnic
While the food and drink selection for adults is pretty extensive at the Hollywood Bowl, when it comes to kids (especially picky eaters), things can pose a bit of a challenge. Luckily, you can bring in your own snacks and meals for the members of your group who have acute preferences. You can also take the opportunity to add a bit of color to your meal with some pink-hued desserts like cupcakes or cookies! You’ll already be dressed head to toe in pink so why not?
Remember that picnic spots are available on a first-come-first-served basis so we recommend getting there when gates open at 6pm.
Give your children the full Hollywood Bowl experience
Saturday night concerts mean later bedtimes for kids and later wake-up calls for parents. But it’s also an excuse to really give your family and friends the chance to explore the Hollywood Bowl before the show! Which is something you rarely get to do during the week.
Depending on where you have your picnic, you can lead your kids up the path to the amphitheater, maybe allowing yourself to get hoodwinked into buying them a treat or some Barbie-themed item being sold by the vendors there. We’d also recommend taking one of the self-guided tours: you can learn about the history of the Bowl and your children will unknowingly tire themselves out as they climb from one waypoint to the next.
