By now, you’ve probably heard the news that Linkin Park is back with a new lineup, new music, and a world tour. The band announced their new lineup today, which includes singer/guitarist Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara, along with Colin Brittain as drummer. So, who is Emily Armstrong? That’s the question many longtime Linkin Park fans are dizzy with asking. Don’t rely on Wiki or corpo media to inform you of the badassery that is Armstrong. Take it from an independent music blog that’s been covering Dead Sara for over a decade.

Why Emily Armstrong is a good fit for Linkin Park

Armstrong is a well-known voice in the Los Angeles music scene. We’ve been covering her band, Dead Sara, since about 2012. Known for delivering an electrifying set and powerhouse vocals that scream and moan with the best of them, Armstrong is more than a good fit for Linkin Park.

Armstrong is a rockstar through and through, who has cut her teeth playing festivals like Warp Tour and Aftershock, to selling out iconic L.A. venues like the Troubadour in West Hollywood, all the way to Melkweg in Amsterdam. Similar to Chappell Roan, Armstrong is your favorite rockstar’s favorite rockstar.

A staple in the Los Angeles music community, she’s the kind of artist who’s always invited to perform at collaborative rock ‘n’ roll shows like Stones Fest and Fleetwood Mac Fest, where some of the artists in rock drop in for some songs and riffs. Why? Because every time she performs, she gives 100 percent and is always drenched in sweat by the end of her set, her hair frazzled, and all.

Ripping and roaring behind the mic is nothing new to Armstrong and Dead Sara fans. She’s always had an incredible stage presence and powerful, gritty vocals that often incite mosh pits. Straight-up hard rock n’ roll explodes when she takes the stage, surging through every moving limb and banging head

If you missed Linkin Park’s live-streamed performance today, where Emily Armstrong showcased her impressive vocals, you still have time to watch it. The show will be available to stream for 24 hours. You can also watch Linkin Park’s new video for “The Emptiness Machine” (below).

We highly recommend you stream Dead Sara’s music to hear Armstrong’s vocals and range in all their raw glory. We particularly love “Weatherman” (it takes us baaaack to the days).

As one YouTube user said, “This isn’t a replacement for Chester Bennington, this is the start of a new Linkin Park, and I’m all for it.”
