Courtney Paige Nelson shared her new single today, “UR IN THE NOSEBLEEDS.” The fiery pop banger is a call to action to be true to yourself, your goals, and your heart, especially in the face of adversity. The fast-paced pop anthem shifts and turns like a hurricane, as Nelson’s lyrics, fueled by daunting high school memories of being a social outcast, grow bolder, as do the rapid beats.

This song “is for all the people that have ever felt made fun of for being themselves, surrounded by gossip, and bullied. You’re not alone, it’s okay to be different, and be kind to everyone always.”

In the ever-evolving landscape between the fusion of pop and EDM music, Courtney Paige Nelson has made it a point always to be 100 percent authentic to herself and her sound. The LA-based singer-songwriter created “UR IN THE NOSEBLEEDS” while participating in a year-long music program during 2022/2023. The program shaped her as a songwriter. However, she was met with hurtful gossip amongst her peers about her commitment to the program. The immature behavior made her feel as though she were dealing with high school bullies again.

“I’ve experienced some degree of bullying on and off all my life so I’m used to it, but this was a much different situation because you’re dealing with adults that around each other 24/7. We had such a degree of inappropriateness, to girls becoming the modern day Regina George thinking they are in a real life casting for Mean Girls. So when everything started to feel weird, when things started to turn clique-y, gossip started to circulate, I got sad that I didn’t have friends, or I felt ostracized for being myself: I decided to write a song in the midst of the thick of it.”

What better way to clap back at the haters than to write a catchy song that allows one to deal with emotional turmoil but also a song that can be used as a tool to empower others who have to deal with “Mean Girls.”
