There’s something beautiful about the union of lullaby-like vocals and thunderous guitars. Phoenix, Arizona-based band Glixen has released their new single “lick the star” and drips of throwback shoegaze. The new track is shared from the band’s forthcoming second EP, quiet pleasures, which will be released on February 21, 2025, digitally via AWAL and on vinyl via Wichita Recordings.
Glixen’s new song “lick the star” opens with breathy atmospheric vocals and delicate strings, the sounds you’d imagine emanating from a distant star. But before you get yourself wrapped in the warmth of their inviting galaxy, get ready for a cathartic explosion of heavy guitars and crashing drums.
“This song is special, it begins with a mellow sonic bath of an intro and explodes into a whirling wall of sound and melody,” says bandleader Aislinn Ritchie. “Also, we are excited to announce our first full US headline tour. This is going to be a very busy and fun year for us!”
Glixen will tour North America in 2025 with stops in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Detroit, Brooklyn, and more. The band is also performing at Coachella 2025.
