It’s a new year, and the first round-up of the best concerts in Los Angeles is off to a good start. Our Must-See Concerts in Los Angeles are hand-picked by our staff and span all genres, from small club shows to arena and stadium concerts. Grimy Goods combs through the mess to pick ou the best.

January’s hottest show is The Weeknd at the Rose Bowl on January 25. The special one-off performance is in celebration of The Weeknd’s forthcoming new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which arrives on January 24. The album serves as the final chapter in his trilogy, following After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022). 

If you’re looking to celebrate David Bowie’s birthday in L.A., you best grab your tickets to The Spiders from Mars: A Live Tribute to David Bowie On His Birthday at Zebulon.

Those looking to dance to some EDM can catch San Holo at Hollywood Palladium, Flosstradamus 360° In The Pit at Exchange LA, CHYL at The Roxy, and one of our favorites, Jamie xx at the Shrine Expo Hall.

If you seek those R&B flavors, you should check out Dua Saleh at The Roxy (love their alt r&b and genre fluidity), Thuy at the Fonda Theatre, or JEMS! (Elujay and J.Robb) at Lodge Room.

For all lovers of rock (and its many subgenres), the iHeartRadio ALTer EGO concerts will pop off on Jan. 11 with Incubus, The Lumineers, Cage the Elephant, The Offspring, Glass Animals, The Head and the Heart, St. Vincent, and Fontaines D.C. at Kia Forum. We also highly recommend Kills Birds at Moroccan Lounge, Karen y Los Remedios at Lodge Room, CSS at The Regent, Tropa Magica at Alex’s Bar, Death From Above 1979 at The Novo, Glass Spells at the Fonda, Junior Varsity at The Echo, Big Black Delta at Gold-Diggers … the list goes on, just see all the many shows below.

For all the hip-hop heads, we have Lettuce and GZA at The Novo, Talib Kweli at The Paramount, Schoolboy Q at The Novo, Mark Battles at The Paramount, and more. There’s also Tank and the Bangas at the El Rey Theatre and Meshell Ndegeocello at the Lodge Room if you’re looking for a bangin’ fusion of sounds, including hip-hop, but also funk, soul, and more. The two acts always deliver a most impressive performance.
