Off the coattails of Coachella weekend one and the release of their stellar indie pop album The
Crux, Djo (and a huge crowd) took over the Fox Theater in Pomona on cool a Tuesday night. Even at
7:45pm, the street was still lined with fans decked out in their “It’s Pronounced Djo” merch,
eager to make their way onto the floor. The night started loud and ended loud, just as I like a
show to be.

Post Animal opened the night and started out strong, bringing their fun psych rock elements to the stage. While in the pit taking photos, time truly escaped me, and when we were ushered out after our two-song limit, I couldn’t believe it was over. Their songs melted together wonderfully, allowing you to sink into the sounds. It was a great feeling looking around and seeing people
engaging with the band. The floor was up and swaying, and even the balcony above was in
on the excitement.
The lights dimmed, and the entire room was buzzing with excitement, including me. The
shouts from Djo fans were absolutely deafening, in the best way possible. It has been a long while
since I heard many people cheering in unison like that. The band was greeted by a
sea of smiling fans, ready to share their excitement. Throughout Djo’s set, you could really feel the
friendship and connection between all the band members on stage. Their care and passion for
the music they created were palpable from the crowd. As they made their way through the set
list, the energy never went down, even with their newest album only being about two weeks old.

Djo fans are dedicated ones, and everyone knows every single word. The last song before the
encore was, of course, none other than the iconic “End of Beginning,” where fans chanted and
stomped so loudly, you could literally feel the venue shaking. It’s so wonderful seeing this band
receive so much love.
For anyone enjoying Coachella weekend two, Djo is definitely a set you want to carve time to see.
