Are you crying, baby? Has life made you feel the need to let loose and dance? Do you remember when you last went out to catch a whine? Have you recently screamed that you are one of the “Baddies” and will change your ways when you turn 30? If this sounds like you, you should have checked out a Toronto gem, SadBoi, at the Echo on April 30th.

Tuesday night was filled with endless energy, thanks to an incredible opening set by DJ CHRYSALIS. Everyone was in a state of pure ecstasy, making friends, bouncing to the music, and dancing as they anticipated seeing one of the baddest Caribbean tings in music grace the stage.

Once you heard SadBoi say “U Dun Kno,” her signature braided pigtails swinging and blacked out grill shining, the room went into pandemonium. The set list for the night genre hopped from a blend of alternative/ pop punk break-up songs like widely popular “Therapist” to a heavy concentration of dancehall, Brazilian funk, and drill beats found in the likes of “ackee” “L’s,” and ”fashion week.” By the night’s end, everyone in attendance left the venue sweaty, tired, and craving more.

From start to finish, SadBoi, or Ebhoni to her family and day one fans, turned up the heat by bringing the Toronto slang and a taste of the Caribbean to the West Coast. With projects like “DRY CRY” and “BARE CHAT” it wasn’t difficult for her to deliver nothing but a dynamic performance and bops for us to dance to.

If you are looking for a high-energy girl to add to your empowerment/workout routine, I recommend SadBoi. Her in-your-face style and undeniable flair are here to shake up the room and give you something to dance to, and I am excited about it. I can’t wait to see her perform live again.
