While there are way more great shows coming through Los Angeles this September, Grimy Goods doesn’t just drop every single upcoming concert on our best shows of the month recommendations. I like to handpick each show to showcase both up-and-coming acts playing small club shows, along with well-known names at arenas (many of which we covered in the past when they were still playing those small clubs). Unlike most concert calendars, this one is a love letter to the indie and alternative music scenes, featuring artists we’ve grown with, along with new artists we’ve recently discovered and have forecasted as artists and bands to watch.
Whether you’re an Angeleno or visiting our great city of LA, Grimy Goods’ recommended concerts of the month are curated with intention and offer you a glimpse of what to expect and why we love these artists and bands. Take your pick from 25 (and then some) shows to experience this September in Los Angeles.
1. Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse at the Greek
Indie rock icons The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse will perform at the Greek Theatre on Thursday, September 4. Get there early to not miss out on the Chicago-based rock band, Dehd, who will open the show with their perfect contrast between ethereal and dreamy and upbeat punk. Get tickets.

2. Thievery Corporation at the Greek
Thievery Corporation will play a hot summer show at the Greek Theatre on Friday, September 5. The genre-blurring electronic icons are no strangers to the Greek and always deliver an otherworldly, cathartic experience. Get tickets.
3. Teethe at Zebulon
Texas band, Teethe celebrate their new album, Magic Of The Sale, with a tour inlcuding an LA show at Zebulon on Saturday, Sept. 6. In the spirit of fellow slowcore bands from the ‘90s such as Low and Duster, Teethe knows how to explore the deep inner recesses of longing through methodical pacing and downcast songwriting that’s just right for the atmospheres each member contributes to. Listen to their track “Iron Wine.” Mother Soki and Bondo open. Get tickets.
