As she prepares for her EP, But What the Hell Do I Know, out Nov. 7 via Top Dawg Entertainment, Alemeda is teaming up with labelmate Doechii on the new single, “Beat A B!tch Up.”

Before Alemeda was signed to TDE, the singer-songwriter made a habit of blending genres under a pop-rock direction, a talent that diversifies the hip-hop and R&B-heavy label. As for Doechii, you’d be hard-pressed to find another artist who’s experienced the same meteoric rise that the Florida rapper has enjoyed, skyrocketing from up-and-coming act to festival headliner within a year.

Contrary to the track’s title, Alemeda had something else in mind, the song being born out of her devotion for others. “‘Beat A B!tch Up’ is about caring so deeply for someone that you’d do anything for them, even if they wouldn’t do the same for you,” said Alemeda. “Obviously, the title is not literal, it’s more about how far I’d go to show up for people, even when it hurts me.”

However, that doesn’t mean the two don’t know how to pack a punch throughout the runtime. It’s apparent from the start that Alemeda’s command of pop and pop-rock melodies is stronger than ever, reaffirming her loyalty and unflinching ability to escalate matters if needed.

Equally impressive is how Doechii follows her lead, popping up for a brief yet impactful appearance that shows how the two can bring out each other’s strengths without sacrificing the song’s overall energy.

By the end of “Beat A B!tch Up,” the explosive guitar riffs, which coincide with fireworks in the music video, propel everything to an 11 and prove Alemeda is someone to watch in the coming months.

See Alemeda and Doechii in LA at Camp Flog Gnaw on Nov. 15/16.
