KATSEYE’s Los Angeles tour stop at the YouTube Theater on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, wasn’t just any concert for my 8-year-old daughter; it was a full-on K-pop style girl group initiation. Launching the L.A. stop of their Beautiful Chaos Tour (with an encore show at the Hollywood Palladium the following night), the group delivered a high-energy, fashion-forward spectacle that felt tailor-made for young fans discovering the thrill of girl groups. For my daughter, it was nothing short of magical.
Here are five things my daughter told me she loved about the show, and one thing she did not.

1. The Dance Moves
If there was one thing that hooked my daughter instantly, it was the choreography. From “Gnarly” to “Touch” to “Gabriela,” she sang at the top of her lungs while trying—adorably—to keep up with every move. Watching her, alongside dozens of other young girls, “wild out” to a group of empowering, diverse young women was genuinely moving. My heart skipped a beat as she lovingly sang-along to another favorite, “Tonight I Might.”
As a mom, there’s nothing better than seeing your child’s confidence soar, and KATSEYE clearly played a role in that.

2. The Outfit Changes
The fashion moments landed just as hard as the music. During “Gabriela,” backup dancers formed a circle as the KATSEYE members reemerged in Spanish-style flamenco skirts—black with burgundy lace trim—that felt dramatic and grown-up in the best way. Then there was “Flame,” the official theme song for Netflix’s Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld, where oversized jeans and crop tops gave the girls a cool, effortless edge. My kiddo was obsessed, especially since she loves wearing floppy jeans, aka wide-legged oversized jeans.
And as a side note: I’ve never seen my daughter dance with such fangirl gusto—not even at Lady Gaga. I expected “Gnarly” to send her over the edge, but it was “Flame” that had her jumping nonstop. By the time “Gnarly” came on around 9:30 p.m. (third to last), the bedtime burnout was real, but worth it.

3. The Unreleased Song: “Internet Girl”
One of the night’s biggest surprises was an unreleased track, “Internet Girl.” With their classic K-pop-style choreography, cheeky lyrics, and an irresistible beat, it was an instant hit. My daughter begged to listen to it on the car ride home, and I had to explain that she’d just experienced a very special live-only moment. She’s already counting down the days until she can learn every word and every move.

4. Confetti Cannons and Streamers
When the confetti cannons went off, especially during “Gabriela,” the excitement hit lunar levels. Even adults lose their minds when streamers fly; for an 8-year-old, it’s pure, unfiltered joy. The look on her face said everything.

5. Pre-Show Videos and Fan Camaraderie
Music videos playing before the show hyped the crowd into a singing, screaming frenzy long before KATSEYE hit the stage. The energy carried into the audience (and the joyful squeals into my ears). For someone who attends a lot of rock shows and regularly wears earplugs to protect my precious hearing, I had no idea how loud the “fangirl scream” could get. Not to self, next time you see a girl group live, don’t forget your earplugs.
My daughter even made a “concert buddy” her age, while I bonded with her mom as our girls sang every lyric word for word. One fellow Eyecon handed out KATSEYE hair clips to the entire row. My daughter immediately clipped the bright green logo onto her headband. It bounced as she danced, and honestly, it was unbearably cute.
The fan camaraderie made the night feel safe and inclusive. Everyone in our row was kind, welcoming, and just as excited as my kiddo.

One Thing She Didn’t Love
Understandably, the merch lines were long. And considering that by 9:30 p.m. she was running on fumes (this is a kid who usually goes to sleep at 8:30 p.m.), waiting in long post-show lines just wasn’t happening. Thankfully, the walk back to the car kept her spirits high. I promised her we’d arrive earlier next time so she could experience the thrill of buying official merch.
And then came a surprise: her very first street merch moment. A vendor stopped us on the way to the car, and she proudly picked out a Beautiful Chaos Tour T-shirt. I explained the difference between official and street merch, but she didn’t mind. She was just thrilled to have a tangible memory—one she couldn’t wait to wear to school as both a badge of honor and a cool new fit.

KATSEYE’s YouTube Theater show was a new formative memory for my daughter, and one I, too, will always cherish. Between the choreography, the fashion, the confetti, and the overwhelming sense of belonging, the night captured everything magical about live music through a child’s eyes. For my daughter, it was her first taste of fandom at full volume. For me, it was a reminder that pop shows like this can be joyful, empowering, and deeply connective; however, I won’t be soon trading them for my indie rock shows.
