The Paul Simon presale began today, and fans aren’t happy about the very expensive ticket prices. This is becoming the new norm, especially with major tours, where concerts are increasingly becoming a luxury with a high price tag.

For Paul Simon’s Los Angeles tour date at the Hollywood Bowl, the worst seats in the house were priced at $93. We’re talking the very last seats in the final row, aka nosebleeds. Official Platinum tickets in the pool circle and garden boxes cost as much as $913, while front-row VIP will cut your wallet by $1,280.

Someone tell Julio down by the schoolyard because he’s not gonna like this!

“Was furious with these presale prices. Pool Circle and Garden boxes were all $800-$1000 each. Ludicrous. Death to “Platinum” pricing.” ~ @williamson.mike

“Just another cog in the capitalist machine. Artists deserve to be paid, but come on. How about an anti fascist free concert in the park #paulsimon to offset the greed. Or are those days as dead as our democracy?” ~ @mich_lyman

The Hollywood Bowl’s summer season, presented by the LA Phil, is known for their very fair ticket prices. With concerts starting as low as $1 and many starting ticket prices at $16-$24. However, the venue is also leased to Live Nation, and that’s when fans begin to pay crazy high prices for the worst seats in the house. I mean, Live Nation and its subsidiary Ticketmaster are facing various lawsuits, including a class action on behalf of millions of Americans for allegedly overcharging them for events at major concert venues across the country.

On the bright side, there is no bad seat at the Hollywood Bowl. It’s usually the furthest seats that get the best view and know how to have a good time.
