I’ve been a big fan of The Budos Band for quite a while now and I FINALLY got around to seeing them perform live. I love their records and when listening to a Budos Band record at home, you get a nice tight and clean performance, but when you see Budos Band play live, you still get the tight performance but you also get pummeled by their heavy grooves and raucous stage presence not found in many modern day funk bands. As intense as their playing is, the band brings a party type atmosphere to their set, with the band pouring drinks & cheering the crowd between songs. It’s truly an incredible vibe for all in the presence of Budos.

Playing songs from their forthcoming Daptone Records release, Budos urged the crowd to buy vinyl as opposed to to streaming on Spotify. The night ended with a 45-minute encore, leaving the audience happily destroyed. Earlier in the evening, L.A. post punk/psych band, Drinking Flowers set the stage for the evening. While they may not be the most lively band on stage, they certainly had everybody locked into their infectious 60s/70s pysch-esque grooves. It had been a a little bit since the first time I saw Drinking Flowers perform and this was a much more together set.  Obviously the band has grown a bit, and I look forward to seeing more from them.
