Midnight Faces

Los Angeles trio Midnight Faces have been grinding away at the release of their third full-length album Heavenly Bodies. Mixed by Abe Seiferth (DFA, Yeasayer, Bear in Heaven, RAC), the nine-track record is quite the pleasing listen. Melding sounds of post-punk with 80s new wave, Midnight Faces deliver a tight record that begs to be performed live. With that said, Midnight Faces will celebrate the new record with a June residency at the Bootleg Theater. You can catch the band every Monday night for FREE at the Bootleg starting Monday, June 6. Local bands such as Castro and The Gloomies will support. View a full list of special guests below.

Although the band originally started as a duo with Matthew Doty (guitar/bass/synth) and Phil Stancil (vocals/guitar/bass), Heavenly Bodies will be the group’s first release as an official trio. With this new album, Midnight Faces introduces drummer Paul Doyle as full-fledged collaborator.

Heavenly Bodies follows Midnight Faces’ 2014 release, The Fire Is Gone. Without a doubt, the new album radiates with a welcoming and vivid energy. It invites you to dance, move and get lost in its fleshed out sounds.

“The amount of time and intention we’ve put into this record was significantly more than the previous two,” shares Doty. “Writing, re-writing, recording, re-recording… the songs flow, the melodies find their place and the sounds are huge. By the time it comes out in August we’ll be 2.5 years into work on it. August can’t come soon enough and we’re excited to finally share this!”

When asked to describe their music in three words, here’s what Doty had to share. We couldn’t agree more.

Midnight Faces’ new album Heavenly Bodies is out August 26. Stream their addictive title-track  below. It’s sexy, it’s sweet and it’s mmm mmm good.
