The Skirball Cultural Center will celebrates its 20th anniversary season of Sunset Concerts this July. The free music series known for its beautiful hillside location and eclectic mix of music spanning the globe will kick off on July 21 with Thao and The Get Down Stay Down, and will close on August 25 with Shai Tsabari and The Middle East Groove All Stars. From West African desert bluesmen to Colombian funk fusion players, from one of LA’s best in Brazilian samba and jazz to Southern boogie all-stars, this years Sunset Concerts at the Skirball is looking prime for the picking. By the way, did we mention the concerts are free?!
Be sure to arrive early (or stay later) so you can catch one of the exhibits before a show. All Skirball exhibitions (except Noah’s Ark) are free and open until 10:00 p.m. during Sunset Concerts, including Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American and The Unauthorized History of Baseball in 100-Odd Paintings: The Art of Ben Sakoguchi.
The Skirball Cultural Center’s Sunset Concerts series is all-ages with limited seating on a first-come, first-served basis. All concerts begin at 8:00 p.m. with doors at 7:00 p.m. Guests can bring their own food to the concerts or enjoy the buffet at Zeidler’s Café. Dinner buffet starts at 6:00 p.m. and reservations are required.
Parking at the Skriball for the Sunset Concerts is $10 per car (cash only). We highly recommend you save a buck through carpooling, and don’t even attempt street parking since its strictly prohibited. You can also opt to take Metro Rapid 734.
