L.A. blues, rock n’ roll duo Herculion, consists of guitarist/vocalist Aaron Silverstein and drummer, Mitchel McKenzie. While they’ve only been together since 2011, these guys already know how to draw some fresh, raw feeling out of a classic track, and that track being Bill Withers’ it’s complicated-relationship standard, “Use Me.” While Withers’ version was as smooth as silk, Herculion take the road less traveled blending fierce and fuzzy distortion with pulverizing drums that smash down soul doors. With Silverstein’s deep, soulful yet gritty vocals — there’s no denying his rock ‘n’ roll spirit has been set free.
Herculion don’t take their blues & soul lightly, and what’s not to like about that. Doing a cover true justice is no easy task, but Herculion has hit all the right notes and their passion is seen, heard and felt. Check out the video below of Herculion’s version of “Use Me” by Bill Withers and see the striking duo furiously losing themselves to the music; soon enough you’ll find yourself doing the same.
“I want to spread the news, that if it feels this good getting used, you just keep on using me, until you use me up.” ~ “Use Me” by Bill Withers
