Dillinger Escape Plan and Trash Talk annihilate the Echoplex

Last night, the Echoplex put on yet another insanely wild hardcore punk show featuring The Dillinger Escape Plan Trash TalkRetox and Shining. We hadn’t seen this much carnal madness at the Plex since the Los Crudos and Infest show. The venue was packed with fists and feet flying through the air as kids transformed the Echoplex into their own punk playground.

When our photographer, Tamea said she wanted to shoot this show, we thought she was a little out of her mind, considering this heavy lineup. Needless to say, she delivered the goods and came out unscathed.

Kicking off the evening were Norway’s Shining. Their ferocious mix of experimental “blackjazz” was pretty damn awesome and a breath of fresh air from the hardcore madness that was about to ensue. Up next were Retox and their explosive set got the crowd pumped for a long night of thrashing. As always, Trash Talk brought out the madness both on stage and off with noise and screams. Fans took over the stage and began to mosh and stage dive (including members of Odd Future). Unfortunately, there were a couple stage dives where everyone moved out of the way and the divers just landed hard on the floor … ouch. Closing up the night as the main event, Dillinger Escape Plan was a chaotic yet magnificent hardcore punk performance. People were climbing up the rafters and the band was playing on top of the crowd. Naturally, there was endless moshing and stage dives.
