We’ve seen a lot of Avid Dancer that past year playing at some of L.A.’s best underground venues and opening up for big acts. Jacob Dillan Summers (aka Avid Dancer) has shared a the title-track from his forthcoming debut EP I Want To See You Dance. The song bubbles with 80’s Bowie vibes and rolls with a sexy strut. We can only imagine when Avid Dancer performs this song live, you will give into his request and show him how you dance. It’s quite the seducing song.
From a fundamentalist Christian upbringing, we’re super stoked Summers has taken up secular music, because the man does it damn well.
“Growing up before the Internet, I was cut off,” Summers shares. “I wasn’t even allowed to watch MTV! I lived in an alternate reality.” I remember sending some songs to a friend and he said, ‘Dude, you remind me of The Kinks.’ I thought they were maybe a new band, but when I listened to them I fell in love with their music…”
Avid Dancer’s I Want to See You Dance EP is set for release Oct. 21 via Grand Jury. He has a performance date at The Troubadour this Friday, Sept. 19 with Kopecky Family Band (grab tickets). Avid Dancer will also perform with Warpaint on Nov. 7 at the Echoplex for Red Bull Sound Select’s 30 Days in LA.
