Scott Hansen has grown Tycho considerably as a live performance over the years, and Saturday night at Coachella he put up quite a fight in the Mojave tent as Jack White raged on the main stage.
Those that opted to skip at least part of White’s gritty rock set were treated to a tantalizing performance from Hansen and his backing band.
“This might be TMI but I think I just came,” one dude said out loud after Tycho finished “Awake,” maybe the most recognizable song from his album of the same name.
Hansen has put in a ton effort to translate his sound from his recordings to the stage and at this point, you can’t even tell the difference. The visuals that accompanied Tycho helped take things up an additional notch.
It’s often hard to walk out on a main headliner like Jack White to see someone of lesser acclaim, but those that paid Tycho a visit probably don’t regret making that choice.
