Experimental R&B songstress, Kelela has shared a sultry new song titled “Rewind.” The bass heavy track is illuminated by Kelela’s siren-like vocals, jumping from enchanting to highs to the slightest of breathy whispers. Co-produced by Kelela, Kingdom and Nugget, “Rewind” is a lovelorn track that we can all relate to. With a tight production, boot-shakin’ beats and an alluring tone — trust — you’re going to want to his rewind on “rewind.”
“Rewind” is the third song off Kelela’s Hallucinogen EP which is due out October 9 via her own Cherry Coffee imprint and Warp. You can pre-order it here.
In a recent press release, Kelela shared, “is there a place for a weird black girl in this music?’ – I had to make sense of these two things inside myself, the color of my voice in all it’s R&B glory and all the other music that was resonating with me.” By the sounds of “Rewind” and the songs on her forthcoming Hallucinogen EP, it looks like Kelela has found her place.
