Florence + The Machine
Judging by its almost unfairly stacked lineup, summer 2016 should see quite a turnout for the Woodlands of Dover, DE, as fans flock to attend the fifth year of the Firefly Music Festival. With a group of headliners that include Mumford and Sons, Florence + the Machine, deadmau5, Tame Impala, A$AP Rocky, Chvrches, Disclosure, and Death Cab for Cutie, as well as a resurrection of Kings of Leon and what will no doubt be a nostalgia ridden performance by Blink-182, Firefly is already poised to be one of the biggest festivals of the year and its still months away.
Additional performers include Earth, Wind, & Fire, Vince Staples, Fetty Wap, MO, Atlas Genius, St. Lucia, The Struts, The Staves, Robert DeLong, and more.
Of course, the big names have to come from somewhere, and music fans can thank promoter heavy-weight Goldenvoice for joining with the festival’s original promoters to curate it.
But the Woodlands have been on the brink of something big since its debut only a few years ago. Location is just as important as the names on the bill, and Firefly’s forested locale and temparate weather (with the exception of the occasional thunder and lightning storm) put the festival in the position of becoming the East Coast’s next big music and arts event. Throw in a few craft breweries, gourmet eats, a silent disco, one hot air balloon, and a treeline dotted with dazzling lightshows–and you have a truly one-of-a-kind festival experience.
