Alice Bag

East Los Angeles punk rock icon, Alice Bag has shared a fiery and empowering video for “Modern Day Virgin Sacrifice.” Directed by Jennifer Juniper Stratford, the video hits on cultural norms, showing how mainstream media sets an ideal of how women should look and dress. With cameos from Allison Wolfe (Bratmobile, Sex Stains), Mecca Vazie Andrews (Sex Stains), Angel Melody, Martha Carrillo (mother of Angel Melody, artist), Andrea Flores (animation artist), and more influential women with a riot grrrl spirit, we see Alice at the helm of all empowerment, warning girls of the bull shit. Watch the video for yourself below!

More than just a musician who paved the way for women in punk rock, Alice bag is also a feminist, author, educator, and all around role model. Grimy Goods recently interviewed Alice, you can check out the feature here.

“Modern Day Virgin Sacrifice” is one of many great songs featured on Alice Bag’s self-titled solo debut album. The LP is set for release on June 24 via Don Giovanni Records. Preorder it here.

Alice Bag will celebrate the new album with a not-to-miss record release show at The Echo on July 2. Generacion Suicida and Kim and The Created support. Get your tickets here.
