Day N Night Festival closes with action packed performances, sans Vic Mensa, who’s set was two hours late, and four songs long …
With day of Night N Day Festival behind us, and another set of hype worthy performers ripped through day two of the packed festival.
The morning began by checking out member of Thestand4rd Allan Kingdom. Kingdom has released multiple projects ranging all the way back to 2011 but didn’t really come to fame until Kanye West used him for his track “All Day.” The Minnesota rapper brought a lot of enthusiasm to the stage having every one in the crowd bobbing their heads along with his music.
After Allan Kingdom, with set times starting right after another, I spent the next few hours running back catching acts from Flume, music duo THEY, Goldlink, Rich the Kid, ilovemakonnen and Soulection.
With his set time pushed back a couple hours, things finally slowed down a bit for Vic Mensa’s set. On his newest EP Vic touches a lot on police brutality, with that said Vic performed with props of cut board police officers behind him. With his set time cut short for an unknown reason, Vic went on to perform only four songs: “Dynasty,” “16 Shots,” “Danger,” and the introduction to “There’s A Lot Going On.”
Following Vic Mensa I went to the weed maps stage to catch Hippie Sabatoge but as a surprise act, Hippie Sabatoge was pushed back and instead The Underachievers took the stage. With a smoke covered stage and bright colorful lights, the duo went on to give a vibrant performance.
After the Underachievers’ set, Hippie Sabatoge, Bryson Tiller, and Chief Keef followed, but unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to photograph them.
Finally, the act that many were waiting for, Young Thug who recently just changed his name to No, My Name is Jeffery lit up the night performing songs from Barter 6 and Slime Season 1-3.
