Montréal-based artist Helena Deland makes her Los Angeles debut with a co-headline show at the The Echo on December 15th. Her latest release, From The Series of Songs “Altogether Unaccompanied” Vol III & IV (Luminelle Recordings), is a menagerie of songs that are as poetic as they are mesmerizing.

Self-described as “sincere pop,” Deland’s songs feel like vignettes constructed from memories, each with its own unique sound and style. Her voice transcends genres, ranging from ethereal to broody and everything in between. “A Stone is a Stone” transports you to a prom in the 80’s where the only thing you love more than your date is the song emanating from the stage. “Claudion” is a synth-pop track that will have you bopping your head and itching to hit the dance floor with its infectious calypso beats.

Deland’s unorthodox approach to releasing new music as short volumes instead of a longer EP or full-length is a result of a mature songwriting process. “I’m learning to be really patient,” she says, “I can’t really force writing.” With poignant lyrics like “You leave all the people before they know you / You leave all the people before they know it,” it’s clear that Deland values quality over quantity.

Don’t miss your chance to be hypnotized by Helena Deland’s magnetic songwriting when she comes to The Echo.

Tickets to Helena Deland at The Echo are priced at $12 Advance / $15 Day of Show. The show all ages. Tickets are on sale now.
