Afro-soul collective The Budos Band have shared the latest single from their forthcoming LP V, and boy-oh-boy is it a funky piece of rock instrumentation. “Arcane Rambler” does just that, rambling along to a heady concoction of woozy guitar work, off-kilter percussion raps, and blistering horns. It’s a swirling maelstrom of darkly-soulful sonics, the kind you just sort of let yourself drift-off into with every howling horn solo or groovy side-step of crashing drums. The whole song just screams funky intro to some 90s cartoon and that just adds a whole other layer of nostalgia for us. This is just the second single from Budos’ upcoming new album and we can already tell it’s going to be a kinetic exercise of some of the band’s best instrumentation.

V will be the follow-up to the band’s 2014 album Burnt Offering and promises to be an eclectic mix that melds together sounds across their discography. Guitarist and producer Tom Brenneck has said that the new album “feels like the truest representation” of the two-decade-old band.
