Glassio has shared a new single in the form of the shimmering anthem “If Love Is All It Takes,” his latest in a string of singles since the release of his debut album For The Very Last Time. Sam R., the LA-based, Irish-Iranian singer-songwriter, and producer behind the project — created the song as a means of acknowledging the mental collapse he and his friends experienced over the last year. Beneath the breezy, upbeat undulations of scintillating synths and shimmering vocals that surge in the song, there is an anxiousness that betrays its sunny effervescence.
The song is also accompanied by a video, shot as a close-up of Sam as he enjoys some sort of ride to the tune of its vibrant sonics. As he dips up and down on the contraption, his facial expression starts to shift from indifference to curious awe, before ending finally on the serene beginnings of a small smile. Like his previous singles “Magazines” and “Queen of the Silver City,” there is a bittersweet ecstasy that erupts from Glassio’s love of electronica, new wave, and dance-pop amalgamations.
After becoming a solo project in 2018, Glassio released his Age of Experience EP, a six-track collection that introduced fans to his eccentric but riveting use of electronica and captivating songwriting. His debut For The Very Last Time, which included absolute bangers “A Million Doubts” and “Make No Mistake,” furthered the mesmerizing worlds that unfolded within his intricate soundscapes. And with the promise of his sophomore record See You Shine coming sometime in 2021-2022, the future looks especially bright for Glassio and his dazzling dream-pop creations.
