Orion Sun has shared her second single from their upcoming Getaway EP with the release of the sultry slow-burner “Dirty Dancer.” Composed of her ever-alluring vein of alt-R&B the new track is just another reminder that the 25-year-old is a vital voice in music. Orion Sun has three Southern California concert dates scheduled, with two of those in Los Angeles at The Echo for May 18, and a Santa Ana gig at the Constellation Room on May 16. Tickets are available now.
Orion Sun shines with captivating vulnerability and an incomparable knack for capturing the aches, pains, and immense love that we encounter in our lives. With “Dirty Dancer,” amidst its lulling piano twinkle of a melody and scattered percussion raps, Orion Sun paints a near incandescent portrait of desire. A desire to be better, to love better. It’s an all-consuming fear and hope that no person is unfamiliar with.
The music video for “Dirty Dancer,” directed by Courtney Loo, brings to life the song’s beautiful melancholy. Filmed throughout the innards of a somewhat surreal-looking home, Orion Sun lays out her intimate intentions surrounded by a group of dancers. Moving to the beats and rhythms of the song, Orion Sun and the dancers engage in captivating and beautiful choreography. But the music video also cements the singer/songwriter’s incredible artistry, participating in multiple mediums to illustrate the affecting emotions that course in her music.
“‘Dirty Dancer’ is about feeling like you’re not good enough,” Orion Sun said of the song. “The thought can really consume your mind. It’s about working on my shit for me, but also so I can love the best way I can, not just the best way I know how.”
Orion Sun’s Getaway EP is out March 11, pre-order here. She will also be going on tour this May with a stop at the Constellation Room in Santa Ana on May 16 and at The Echo in Los Angeles on May 18 & 19. Visit Orion Sun’s website and Instagram to stay updated on new releases and tour announcements.
