The Hails are gearing up for the release of their debut LP with the unveiling of its latest single “Heaven” (feat. Kwin). It serves as the penultimate track before the record arrives, following previous singles “Fiona,” “Breathless,” and “Exonerate,” all garnering exceptional excitement over the Florida five-piece’s soulful sound. The band will also be embarking on their first-ever headline tour, bringing them to select cities around the U.S.

On their latest offering, The Hails crank up their sonorous grooves to an alluring level. Against a dreamy bass line and singer Robbie Kingsley’s svelt vocals the track ebbs and flows with such bittersweet lovelorn passion. His words drift woozily along as a crescendo of riffs and percussion swell behind them just before an absolutely sizzling guitar solo takes over. “I guess it’s by design / We ran out of time,” they croon sadly. “Is living not a burden? / was there more that kept you yearning?”
“‘Heaven’ emerged as our first in-person collaboration after months of remote songwriting, fostering a melodic exchange between myself and Robbie,” Franco Solari said. “As the penultimate single from our debut album, it incites introspection about one’s lasting influence, even in absence. The poignant question, ‘If I was in heaven…would you fall in love again?’ persists, underpinned by a steady drumbeat symbolizing life’s constant progression. A climactic flurry of strings offers a glimmer of hope for an eternal reunion.”
The track also features vocals from Kwin whose ghostly and breathy voice fills the track’s final moments with haunting wonder, their words wafting in echo and answer to both Kingsley’s and Solari’s. A dulcet richness pours from “Heaven” in a way that beautifully encapsulates the song’s melancholy and desperate love.
It’s a reminder of the ways in which The Hails grip you not just with their irresistibly honeyed melodies — their beguiling R&B rhythms made electric by their varied genre influences — but also with their capacity for tugging the heartstrings with such precision through their songwriting.
