Indie-rock artist 26fix continues to interpret psychedelic sounds in her own way and seemingly has fun while doing so. As the solo project of Erica Goodwin, a Utah-based musician formerly of the band Brothers, 26fix is a relatively new phase in her career that has only released a few singles so far.

On “Just go with it,” the second single released this year alongside “Stone Killer,” Goodwin exhibits a carefree attitude over a mellow yet playful track that makes a case for why it’s best to go with the flow.

Although they are totally different songs, “Just go with it” gives off those Peter Bjorn and John’s “Young Folks” vibes. However, Goodwin’s fingerprints distinguish the track from sounding like you’ve heard it before, notably in the arrangement, which has a healthy dose of 60s psychedelic rock that gets the track moving at the start. The vocals also add another layer, keeping matters light and bouncing off the drum pattern, which remains consistent throughout.

In keeping with the carefree attitude, the music video finds Goodwin up to some thievery and chased by scantily clad cops swinging whips at her. The shot-on-the-go feel, seen through many bizarre scenes, such as the cops drowning Goodwin in money, is fitting for the illegal activities taking place. Thanks to the sight of skimpy cops constantly running around, the DIY visuals come off as if the Beastie Boys’ classic “Sabotage” music video was a segment in Jackass in the best way possible.

“Just go with it,” perhaps more than any other of Goodwin’s tracks, captures the feeling of her music from the title alone. It’s almost as though Goodwin is playing in her own sandbox, figuring things out artistically until she’s satisfied with the final product. From then, she continually comes out on the other side with a fully realized song that takes from multiple inspirations without coming off like an impersonation.
