Over the last few years, we’ve caught Mitski more than a few times, from sold-out gigs at the Echoplex and The Wiltern to an unveiling of Be The Cowboy at the Hollywood Palladium. Every single time she’s given fans emotionally searing performances — and after that coveted run of acoustic dates late last year — we can only hope she breaks out a few stripped-down versions of her songs.
Likewise, Sharon Van Etten is the perfect artist to open a night of Mitski magic. Her catalog is replete with the kind of rollicking wailers and simmering atmospheric slow-burners designed to bring a venue like the Hollywood Bowl to its knees. After her show-stopping appearance at the Greek Theatre and last year’s acoustic gig at The Troubadour, we expect Van Etten will devastate and rouse the souls of all present.
