Ship Have Sailed returns with another new single, “Invisible Ink.” The project of Will Carpenter, with permanent band member Art Andranikyan (drums), the band is no stranger to releasing unabashedly cathartic songs that fill your soul.

Their new track, “Invisible Ink,” is a rousing piano ballad complemented by experimental sounds and Carpenter’s lovelorn words. The song builds up beautifully before reaching its uplifting peak, exuding a sense of relief.

Of the song Carpenter shares:

“‘Invisible Ink’ leans into the worst parts of love: betrayal, indifference, imbalance, loss and heartbreak. Somehow, there is as much beauty in all these things as there can be pain, and this song, created by (at the time) three strangers in a virtual room shines the light on that beauty.”

Initially taking root as a single song, “Invisible Ink” grew into a three-part EP that includes the original track, a stripped-down version, and a dreamy remix. Each track shines with a slightly different vibe but still holds that gorgeous cathartic release.

Co-created with Bill O’Hanlon and Anita Majumdar, Carpenter shares more on the creation process:

“Although my collaborators and I had just met, we somehow found a place of extreme vulnerability to dig into that day. It was a magical experience in many ways and, although we loved the first version I produced of the song, we felt there were more layers to be uncovered. After all, there are many ways to experience, express or process any sequence of emotions, so we felt it would be interesting to explore that musically, which led us to creating the three versions you can hear on this mini EP.” “Invisible Ink” is set to be released on September 12th, 2024.

Prior to “Invisible Ink,” Ships Have Sailed released three stunning singles: “Reflections,” “Walking Into Walls,” and “Find My Way.” Each was filled with gorgeous arrangements, something that has become a signature to the band’s sound. In 2023, they released numerous singles, including their roaring protest song “Get Loud,” featuring longtime collaborator Abby Posner.

Whether grueling riffs with thunderous foot-stomping energy or tender vocals and piano keys that kiss your ears—Ship Have Sailed has proven to be a consistent force in creating music that resonates with the heart.
