Oklahoma-bred solo project Jaco Jaco, a former member of Sports, is striking while the iron is hot following 2024’s Splat with “What’s It Like in the Sunshine.” The new single, off of his newly released album, Gremlin, which was released March 21, 2025, is another genre-bender that distinguishes Jaco Jaco from other indie contemporaries.
Although much of the runtime relies on a steady groove amplified by psychedelic reverb, the bridges in between are where “What’s It Like in the Sunshine” transforms into something only Theriot could have delivered. When everything slows down, from the synths to the distant humming in the background, the song becomes even more of a psychedelic daze than before, revealing itself as an impressive display of genres that opens up Gremlin on an incredibly high note.
