Get ready to dance with this new bop. Joalin is gearing up to release her new five-track mixtape CAMALEÓN with her shape-shifting pop outing, “GUM.” The Finnish-born singer-songwriter quickly built an international following on the back of other earworm singles like “GUM,” a track full of nebulous textures and trap snares aplenty for the perfectly timed breakdown at the end. But even before the song’s outro, the lead-up goes to show how locked-in Joalin is leading into CAMALEÓN.

Joalin, who moves between Spanish and English, uses gum as a euphemism in a dance single, doubling as a slow seduction. The intensifying lyrics coincide with what was once a stripped-back instrumental that becomes more experimental throughout the runtime, going from a tried and true trap beat to gradually incorporating synths. The progression is natural, similar to Joalin’s own transition into pop-leaning music, which she successfully does with “GUM” – so much so that it serves as a fitting segue into CAMALEÓN and everything that she has in store.
Reflecting on her musical journey, Joalin adds, “I dove into music so quickly. I didn’t spend years learning instruments or building a vocal technique. Instead, I just jumped into the career part without even considering myself a singer. But now that I understand the process better, I can finally focus on what I truly want from my music.”
CAMALEÓN arrives June 20, 2025, via Because London Records. Visit Joalin on Instagram and her website to stay updated on new releases and tour dates.
