Google Search Console Just Became a Secret Weapon for Music Bloggers & Creators
Great news for music bloggers and creators. You can now add your YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and X accounts to Google Search Console. This kind of Search performance analytics will be a game-changer for tracking the SEO strength of your videos and social media posts, and ultimately leveraging bigger brand partnerships.
I was able to add my personal Instagram account, as well as Grimy Goods’ Instagram. If you own and have access to multiple accounts, you can add them all.
I’ve been publishing at Grimy Goods since 2008. Just about every blog post is fine-tuned using Google Search Console to identify which topics and keywords have historically generated the most impressions and clicks. It’s an invaluable tool, especially now that AI Overviews have made organic clicks harder to earn.
As an example, below are screenshots of the EsDeekid tour announcement I wrote and the top placements it received in Google SERPs. My blog and Instagram currently hold the top two positions for my target keywords, ranking above both the artist’s own Instagram post and Ticketmaster’s listing.
And the Instagram post was a Trial Reel! I guess now we know even well-written Instagram Trial Reels can be placed in Google SERPs.

Both our website and Instagram were placed in the AI overview with a credit to “Grimy Goods” as the source and a clickable link to our website. This type of placement and link credit can lead to thousands (even millions) of impressions and clicks, depending on what you are writing about and if it’s evergreen or not. This is a news item, so the clicks and impressions will be high for the next week or so, and then they will slow down, and then pick up again when the tour kicks off.

Again, my site has been actively publishing editorial content since 2008. Rankings like this don’t happen overnight. They take years of consistency, learning what works, and continually refining your content. But with enough time and dedication, it’s absolutely something you can master. And that’s exactly why you should add your social media properties to Search Console.
How To Add Your Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok to Google Search Console
If you already have a website property in Search Console, just navigate to the drop-down menu on the left and select “Add property.”

Next, select which platform you’d like to add to Google Search Console. You can add as many as you own. It’s pretty self-explanatory from there. Super easy.

Since adding Grimy Goods’ Instagram to Search Console, we have received a little over 19,000 Search impressions and 364 clicks, which is pretty great for less than 24 hours. Search Console will show you a full breakdown of your Instagram posts and how many Google Search impressions they received, as well as how many clicks.
Dive in deeper, and you can see the actual search queries (keywords) people searched on Google to get to your Instagram posts.
You can even see which countries your audience is coming from. This is incredibly valuable information for bloggers and creators to share with brands when negotiating partnerships.

If your Instagram posts are showing up in Google Search results, you now have much more leverage. You’re not just offering brands visibility and engagement on Instagram. You’re also offering Google SEO authority, which, in many cases, can provide longer-lasting value than a social media post alone. It all depends on the longevity of the content.
But Ima save the topic of evergreen content for another post!
Whether you’re a music blogger and/or journalist, or a music content creator, or even an artist/band, your social media efforts can greatly benefit from using Search Console. This process is sort of like dissecting your content and learning from it.
If you don’t have Google Search Console, I highly recommend you create an account so you can add your social media profiles and start tracking your SEO strength and learning what works and what doesn’t.
