Why Was Dave Chappelle Kinda “Canceled”?
In 2021, Dave Chappelle faced criticism for his Netflix standup show, “The Closer.” His comments regarding the LGBTQ+ community, and specifically his emphasis on the transgender community, resulted in a negative response.
In his special, Chappelle brought up the controversy from December 2019 involving J.K. Rowling. The author faced criticism for equating sex with gender and supporting the notion that altering one’s biological sex could endanger her own gender identity.
