What We Love About Roots Picnic
From the moment Roots Picnic debuted in 2007 the festival has grown to become one of the country’s biggest and most successful festivals. Every year the lineup has only gotten grander and bigger, bringing together names that represent both the past legacy and future hopes of hip-hop under one banner. After last year’s legendary performances by Usher & The Roots and Ms. Lauryn Hill (made all the more perfect by a surprise Fugees reunion), the bar is once again excitingly high.
In addition to the music, Roots Picnic will also offer attendees a ton of other attractions like the Parkside Stage (f.k.a. Podcast Stage) where you can catch a variety of live podcasts and DJs doing their thing. Some of the shows in attendance will include Million Dollaz Worth of Game, R&B Only & U+ME+RNB to Tonight’s Conversation, Juan Epstein Podcast, World Series of Spades and They Have the Range.
For those on the West Coast who want to stay close to home — the debut of Roots Picnic: Hip-Hop is the Love of My Life arrives at the Hollywood Bowl this season featuring appearances by Queen Latifah, Common, and a host of other special guests.
