UPDATE: Emily Armstrong shared a statement via her Instagram Stories in regard to her support of charged rapist Danny Masterson. And naturally, Cedric Bixler-Zavala had some more choice words to say. Check it out.

UPDATE END

On his social media today, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, from the bands The Mars Volta and At The Drive-In, shared a comment he posted on Dead Sara’s Instagram account. In his comment, Bixler-Zavala called out Armstrong’s alleged support of her “friend” and rapist Danny Masterson, who he claims she supported during his preliminary trials. He also brought up her ties to Scientology and the church’s alleged behavior against the women who pursued rape charges against Masterson.

Emily Armstrong is the lead singer and guitarist of the beloved Los Angeles-based rock band Dead Sara. Yesterday, fans received the news that she would join the iconic alt-rock/rap group Linkin Park, singing on their new album From Zero and hits from their catalog originally sung by the late Linkin Park founder and singer Chester Bennington. With a live-streamed concert that arrived with the big news, along with Linkin Park’s first new single and music video in seven years, the buzz was high for the reformed band, especially Armstrong.

Bixler-Zavala’s comment read:

“I’m surprised none of you wrote a letter on Danny Mastersons behalf since your corny ass singer showed up to support him in the prelims. Remember Emily? Remember how your fellow scientologist goon squad surrounded one of the Jane Doe’s when she was trying to leave the elevators? The court sheriffs had to escort her away from your awful cult. Remember when we did the purification run down Emily? Were you directed to safe point me cuz of what my wife knew? Why can’t you shut your mouth during a detox program where people are going through some rough shit but your corny ass is singing like an unsupervised child? Is it cuz you’re a born in scientologist that gets a pass? How do you reconcile the homophobia found in the teachings of LRH’s book dianetics? Do your fans know about your friend Danny Masterson? Your rapist friend.”

Cedric’s wife, Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, was one of several women pursued rape charges against Danny Masterson, who is now serving 30 years to life in prison for rape.

A photo of Armstrong and Bixler-Zavala at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre 44th Anniversary Gala has been circulating on social media. Bixler-Zavalar is a known ex-Scientologist who left the church in 2017.

The news disappointed Armstrong and Dead Sara fans and fueled existing haters who weren’t happy with her “replacing Chester.” It also enraged longtime Bennington and Linkin Park fans. Fans were quick to point out that Bennington was a survivor of childhood sexual abuse.

“However you feel about LPs music. Understand that Chester was very against sexual assault and stood against that for his entire professional career. The band have really missed the mark with this one.”

“This is disappointing. Supporting that monster is not good. Neither is Scientology. TOXIC.”
~ @alissagoesthere

“👏👏👏👏 Scientology stalked, and harassed victims and possibly took the lives of their dogs because she dared stand up to her rapist. The gangstalking and harassment is so disgusting and so are people who condone their cult doing it.” ~ @livviesmalls

Good for Cedric. I loved LP when I was young and stretched my lobes to be like Chester – but I hate whatever this bs they’re doing now is 😤 ~@bonghitsbigtits

On Armstrong’s Instagram, a flood of supportive comments were posted under her Instagram post where she shared a photo of her and Mike Shinoda singing with a caption that read: “Sorry I can’t, I have rehearsal.” This post was shared ahead of the Masterson-supporter news that devasted her existing fans.

“Are you still a Scientologist? A lot of fans are asking for a statement on this.” ~ @rainbowlightve

“Stick to cults and defending rapists. We don’t need you to tarnish Chester’s legacy” ~ @splitting_the_adam

Mike Shinoda did an interview today with ALT987’s Booker and Stryker. Shinoda addressed the speculation and rumors of who would be their new singer (who is now Armstrong), and spoke on the need to respect Linkin Park fans who are not ready to accept Armstrong as a singer. No conversations addressed Bixler-Zavala’s comment on Dead Sara’s Instagram, directed to Armstrong.

Grimy Goods contacted Linkin Park’s publicists at Warner Records for a statement from Emily Armstrong. We have yet to receive a response.
