After releasing a string of show-stopping singles, LA-raised singer-songwriter Katzù Oso brings it all home with his recently released album via Cosmica Artists, La Conexión, including songs like “For The Weekend.” Leading up to the release of La Conexión, songs like “Amantes” exemplified the broad spectrum of styles he’s inspired by, whether it be cumbia or indie pop.

Like the rest of the tracklist, “For The Weekend” finds Oso drawing from his background as a photographer and using it to conjure cinematic soundscapes befitting of a movie soundtrack.

“This album is a collection of pivotal moments that have shaped who I am,” said Oso. “It’s a project about love, pain, hope, longing, and the quiet resilience that carries you forward. Like a roll of film with 36 exposures, each song captures a unique story, a snapshot in time.”

“For The Weekend” is a soulful soft rock drift that was made for Oso’s velveteen vocals. Similar to the tracks preceding and following it, “For The Weekend” lets Oso be unabashedly romantic in his constant reassurance that he’s coming home to his lover.

At the same time, the lyrics show how Oso’s wandering mind leads him to thoughts of jealousy, second-guessing, and so on, eventually realizing that “The hardest part is being away from you.”

In a little over two minutes, Oso perfectly encapsulates what it’s like to be unsure in a relationship, finding truth and hopelessly romantic musings amid the gentle production.
