My Chemical Romance have rolled out a cover of Pulp’s iconic song, “Common People,” and boy did Gerard Way and the band do it justice.

With songs like Pulp’s “Common People,” it’s almost crazy to attempt a cover, because it’s one of those songs that’s just so damn good as is. When I first read the press release that My Chemical Romance had done their own rendition of the beloved track for BBC Radio 1, I immediately hit play. Not only did I walk down the aisle to the original, but I do love MCR and had a feeling Gerard would deliver flawlessly.

The boy slayed, from start to finish. He even delivered on that epic grand finale we all know and love, and so did the band. I REALLY hope they play this song on their upcoming tour because you know Gerard is gonna serve just like Jarvis Cocker, full of playful swagger.

MCR originally recorded the cover in 2010. Now, the song serves as the second bonus track from the band’s forthcoming Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (Deluxe Edition). The new deluxe editions arrive on July 10, 2026 via Reprise Records, and features remastered versions of the album’s original songs, as well as nine bonus tracks, and reimagined artwork.

My Chemical Romance will head on the UK and European leg of their The Black Parade 2026 tour beginning June 30. The band will return to the U.S. in August with five Los Angeles shows at the Hollywood Bowl in October, including a Halloween show. In November, MCR will tour Southeast Asia.
