Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters

June gloom? Nah, I don’t think so. At least not when it comes to the wide array of fabulous must-see concerts in Los Angeles this June. This month’s round up features several boss shows, from local hip-hop legend Aceyalone to pop guru Brian Wilson to garage-psych upstarts Cosmonauts – there’s a show (or two, or three or ten) for everyone. Not to mention some very rad music festivals such as Make Music Pasadena, Ink-N-Iron and Lolipalooza will be kicking the Summer into high gear. Welcome Summer concert season, we missed you!

June 1 — Aceyalone at Echoplex
Old school Los Angeles hip-hop artist and member of the famed Freestyle Fellowship, Aceyalone, continues to wow and excite fans with his swift raps and sick beats. Be sure to catch him live at The Echoplex this month as he plays in support of his new album, Action, an homage to the history of R&B. Supporting acts include 2mex, Bionik, Acid Reign, and King.

June 1 — Delta Spirit at Teragram Ballroom
Delta Spirit are bringing their intimate “Delta Spirit and Friends Tour” to the new Teragram Ballroom in Downtown Los Angeles. The show will feature special guests from bands such as The Walkmen, Deer Tick, Dr. Dog, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and more. Expect to hear old school jams, covers, re-workings and stripped down versions of their hits, including songs off of their new album, Into the Wide.

June 2 — Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters at Greek Theatre
The legendary Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant is bringing his new group, The Sensational Space Shifters, to the Greek Theatre this month for a one of a kind performance that takes blues rock and world music to a whole new level. The all star group backing Plant is composed of guitarist Justin Adams (Tinariwen, Sinead O’Connor), keyboardist John Baggott (Massive Attack, Portishead), bassist Billy Fuller (Beak>, Massive Attack), guitarist Liam “Skin” Tyson (Cast, Men from Mars), violinist Juldeh Camara, and drummer Dave Smith. June 2 — Ryley Walker at The Echo
Chicago folk singer-songwriter Ryley Walker will be bringing his acoustic swagger to Los Angeles this month – prepare to swoon! Float away to the sweet serenade of new songs from his 2015 release Primrose Green (Dead Oceans). Opening acts include Pearl Charles and Matt Kivel.

June 3 & 4 — Todd Rundgren at The Roxy
Groundbreaking rock icon Todd Rundgren is playing two epic back-to-back nights at The Roxy. The singer/guitarist is on a world tour in support of his 25th studio album release, Global, which features various musical styles from rock to soul and even EDM. Joining him on stage will be two female vocalists and a DJ/keyboardist and promises of additional surprises on stage. Be there!

June 3 & 4 — Sufjan Stevens at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion
Multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens is proficient in playing the guitar, oboe, theremin, banjo, and more, which he puts to good use through his wide and wondrous musical explorations of indie folk, pop, and electronica. Stevens is touring North America now in support of his new album, Carrie & Lowell.

June 5 — The Standells at The Satellite
’60s garage rockers The Standells may be best known for their retro hit “Dirty Water” but the band is back in action and will be celebrating the release of their new album, The ’60s: The Standells this month at The Satellite. The band features original members Larry Tamblyn (vox/keys) and John Fleck (bass) who will be leading the way for this badass night of rock n’ roll. We recently featured Burger Records and Lolipop Records recording artist Kim & The Created in our live footage/interviews at Desert Daze 2015. June 5 — Palma Violets at Tergram Ballroom
We’ve seen the madness that London rockers Palma Violets can stir up, driving fans into nothing short of a wild, rock n’ roll frenzy. Now the band is on tour in support of their new album Danger In The Club. The album was produced by John Leckie (The Stone Roses, The Verve, Radiohead) and released this month via Rough Trade. June 6 — Bomba Estéreo at Fonda Theatre
Last year we saw Colombian electro tropical group Bomba Estéreo making waves at the Supersonico Festival in support of their 2012 release Elegancia Tropical. Now the band is back in Los Angeles with a special headlining concert at the Fonda Theatre to celebrate the release of their new record Amanecer. Supporting acts Little Jesus and Santé Les Amis get the fiesta started!

The annual Make Music Pasadena festival is back and it has come to be one of the best free music festivals in Los Angeles. June 8 — D’Angelo at Club Nokia
R&B, neo-soul artist D’Angelo fell off the musical radar for several years but now the master of all things smooth, sensual, spiritual and seductive is back with his new album, Black Messiah, and backing band The Vanguard. D’Angelo is rocking the Summer festival circuit, including a performance at FYF, but you can catch him before everyone else when he brings The Second Coming Tour to Club Nokia this month. Seinabo Sey is an R&B, electro-pop vocalist and song-writer who has been making waves in Sweden with her soulful sound, which can be heard and felt on her newest album releases For Maudo (2015) and For Madeline (2014). June 15 — Pins at The Echo
Hailing from Manchester, UK, four-piece rock outfit PINS recently opened for Sleater Kinney in the UK and now they’re making their way stateside for a headlining show at The Echo. The band’s new album Wild Nights is due out June 9th on Bella Union and features pristine jams such as, “Too Little Too Late” and “Molly.” Get to know this awesome band! June 16, 17 & 19 — Butch Walker at Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever
When it comes to describing singer-songwriter/guitarist Butch Walker’s upcoming tour, he himself says it best, “This tour is gonna be so good, shared Walker via his website. “I’m gonna take your brain on an emotional roller coaster that’s gonna piss you off, make you laugh, and probably get sad occasionally. But in a good way. To quote the Internet, ‘It’ll have ALL the feels’.” Expect to hear songs of his seventh album Afraid of Ghosts which was released earlier this year on Dangerbird Records. June 17 — Robert Glasper at El Rey Theatre
Robert Glasper is reuniting (and yes, it feels so good) with his acoustic jazz trio to perform and celebrate the release of his new album Covered, due out June 16th on Blue Note Records. June 18, 19 & 20 — Misfits at The Observatory Santa Ana
Get stoked hardcore Misfits fans! The iconic horror punk rock group, Misfits, are playing three back-to-back dates at The Observatory where they will performing the holy trifecta of their best albums, in their entirety, including: Static Age (1996) on Thursday, June 18th, Walk Among Us (1982) on Friday, June 19th, followed by a closing set on Saturday, June 20th where Earth A.D. (1983) will take its spin. Each album performance will be preceded by a greatest hits set. Get on it! June 19 — Surfer Blood at Troubadour
West Palm Beach’s Surfer Blood have had a challenging year due to guitarist Thomas Fekete undergoing cancer treatment, but with him in their thoughts, the band is trekking on. The indie surf-rockers just released a catchy new album, 1,000 Palms, via Joyful Noise Recordings and we are stoked to hear it live when they take to the Troubadour stage for what will no doubt be a riveting performance. June 20 — Brian Wilson at Greek Theatre
Ready for a night to remember? Legendary Beach Boys founding member Brian Wilson is bringing his No Pier Pressure Tour to Los Angeles. Wilson is touring in support of his forthcoming album No Pier Pressure, but will also please fans with classic Beach Boys hits as well. Former bandmates Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin will also be joining him for this beautiful pop-fueled performance under the stars at the Greek Theatre. Special guest Rodriguez opens.

June 21 — Underworld and Jungle at Hollywood Bowl
